British Naval History
National Maritime Museum
This museum has the world's greatest collection of ship's plans and maritime treasures.  Current exhibits include the Nelson Gallery where visitors can experience the life and times of Horatio Nelson, from the uniform he wore at Trafalgar to contemporary portraits to a re-creation of the home he and Lady Hamilton kept at Merton. The site contains information about coming events, research opportunities, and resources available from the museum.

Flagship Portsmouth
Virtual tours of HMS Victory and the Royal Naval Museum are available on this site, which features the historic ships on display at Portsmouth's historic dockyard.  HMS Victory, once Nelson's flagship, is still the Flagship of the First Sea Lord, and his the oldest warship in the world in continuous commission and the most famous of all sailing warships.  Douglas Reeman has said that as a boy the Victory inspired his interest in the sea and the navy.  The site also includes a link to the Royal Naval Museum, which is opposite HMS Victory in the Royal Dockyard.

San Diego Maritime Museum
The San Diego Maritime Museum is home to the Star of India, the world's oldest ship still able to go to sea.  She began her life on the stocks at Ramsey Shipyard on the Isle of Man in 1863.  There have been reported sightings of Sir Richard Bolitho aboard the vessel.
